The UKNFS is very pleased to update that at the end of November 2020, all content gathering for the UKNFS enabled, Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) supported UK Nepali community cultural and social heritage information resource & related exhibition project was achieved, and the same for the associated Nepali home cookery information resource.

Both the main heritage information resource and the associated Nepali home cookery information resource have now been finalised in PDF / book – e-book formats (approximately 240 and 120 pages respectively), and for both almost all content has been transferred to corresponding websites. 

In the December 2020 period, the UKNFS received, after review, of the two final state manuscripts of the main and culinary books/e-books, Subhakamana / Best Wishes formal dedications from highest and very high levels reviewers in Nepal, the Embassy of Nepal, and also in the UK including from the President of The Royal British Legion (TRBL), and respected national level community leads, and in the case of the Nepali home cookery book/e-book, respected experts.

Next stages and dissemination steps:

In February/early March we will be providing consecutive virtual launches for the main heritage resource book/e-book, and website, and accompanying Nepali home cookery book/e-book which has broader British Isles and Europe level relevance.  Because of the impacts of Covid 19 the accompanying exhibition for the main heritage resource will be provided later in 2021, taking place at three different locations.

A major part of the heritage information resource includes a need-to-know information resource in English regarding the national to local level UK Nepali community demographics and thematic profile, for UK national to local level public services, government agencies & departments, local authorities departments, and national to local level Third Sector community & voluntary sector and advice providers. 

The heritage information resource itself (that also includes video and audio and written formats interviews) is also being provided to national to local level museums and cultural centres because of the ground-breaking content the resource provides, which is going to be used for educational and transcultural learning purposes, and is already being so at national level by The Royal British Legion (TRBL).
