Alan Mercel-Sanca, UKNFS CEO said:

‘This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable, and there are elements in the Kent Messenger news article that indicate this is NOT specifically targeted at our Nepali-Gurkha community, but is indicative of a broader anti-Asian racism being at work. We are aware that such elements are NOT representative of British attitudes and values, but symptomatic of a very small disruptive number of individuals in our society who will attack any (especially minority communities) that do not fit into their ignorance informed view of life.

Nevertheless, we have national to local agencies and public service organisations that have remits to prevent or minimise such criminal conduct, and will if needed contact them where and if mobilisation of their resources and activity is required (please see outcomes of our coordination in Swindon last year). We believe that solidarity and timely action benefits the whole of society, and can in particular support others who may be being targeted too by the same elements.’
